{"id":734,"date":"2026-03-03T22:47:55","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T03:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hoodresearch.org\/TTR\/?page_id=734"},"modified":"2026-03-16T09:44:43","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T13:44:43","slug":"project-governing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hoodresearch.org\/TTR\/?page_id=734","title":{"rendered":"Project &#8211; Governing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Reviewing Laws, Ordinances and Charters<br>Detroit City Charter, CDC, CBA \u2013 Ordinance, Open Meetings Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are going to examine state laws such as PA 436, PA 197 (1975), the Detroit City Charter and other laws, ordinances including the Open Meetings Act, Michigan Constitution, others based on suggestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Detroit Board of Police Commissioners<\/strong> are reviewing policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the current policy under review and how to interact with the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The policy currently in review is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/detroitmi.gov\/sites\/detroitmi.localhost\/files\/events\/2026-02\/Directive%20203.16%20Extreme%20Risk%20Protection%20Order%20PROPOSED%20CHANGES%202-25-2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>203.16 &#8211; Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Act<\/em><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/strong>It was discussed at the March 3rd Policy Committee meeting. If you want to provide input, please make your plan to do so well before the next Policy Committee meeting scheduled for March 17th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commissioner Victoria Camille, District 7 is working with Hood Research and can be contacted for more information or specifics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Providing Input: When, Where, How<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Email<\/strong>&nbsp;input to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:bopc@detroitmi.gov\">bopc@detroitmi.gov<\/a>&nbsp;with &#8220;Policy Committee Public Comment&#8221; in the subject line.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>BOPC Policy Committee<\/strong>&nbsp;is currently meeting every 2 weeks on Tuesdays at 3pm at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters and on Zoom. The first meeting was on March 3rd. Sign up for public comment to provide input prior to the Committee finalizing their recommendation to the full Board.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The full&nbsp;<strong>BOPC Meetings<\/strong>&nbsp;meet every Thursday. On the 2nd Thursdays the meetings are at 6:30pm at various locations and on Zoom. On all other Thursdays the meetings are at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters and on Zoom.
